Two Iconic Sites on Day 2! (+1 on Day 3)

Saturday was about two stunningly beautiful sights, Chateau de Versailles and the Eiffel Tower. We spent over 5 hours touring the chateau and the famous gardens. This included a long walk out to Marie Antoinette’s Estate where she had a village built to pretend that she was a peasant, rather than the Queen of France. Even the rough life for the queen included an elaborate and large house. Thankfully the weather was amazing and allowed us to see so much.

Once we arrived back in Paris we decided to wait in line so that we could head up the Eiffel Tower. The tower shuts the stairs off at sunset and we just missed the cutoff so we had to go into the longer and slower line for the elevators. We went all the way to the second floor before going back down to the first floor. It was chilly but the views were incredible. Overall, we were able to go up and be back down within 3 hours and was well worth the time.

Sunday we said our goodbyes and then Olivia and I headed to the Arc de Triomphe. The arc was built between 1806 and 1836 to honor those who fought for France. I’m glad we made it to the Arc because it is bigger than I imagined. You can go up to the top but it was a foggy day so Olivia and I opted to just stay down on the ground. Also, there's tunnels to go underneath so don't cross the traffic.

After the Arc we wondered around Paris for a few hours, taking in some sites, walking through the Christmas market, and stopping in at Angelina Paris for some chocolate. Just the way chocolate finishes a fantastic meal, it finished a fantastic trip. However, I left knowing that 2 ½ days just wasn’t enough and there will be a return trip in my future.
